Our value comes from our identity as (1) people created for God and (2) people for whom Christ died and rose, so that we would live for him. Placing value on anything else, even on good things, creates division in the body and sets up an “inner circle” of elite people: the “haves” vs. the “have nots.” This is not only wrong, it is directly opposed to what God is doing in his world-transforming Kingdom.
