Music at Remnant

Worship is our response to God in spirit and truth for who He is and what He has done. Far more than just singing or playing music, worship is the act of giving our lives to God in sacrificial love and service (Rom 12:1). In this sense, the many facets of our lives present us with manifold ways to express our joy and faith in Christ. Nevertheless, we especially value singing because of the unique opportunity it brings for our whole community to join together in vocal celebration of the gospel. As such, the words of the songs we sing are far more important than the type of music we play. So whether the music is loud or soft, fast or slow, new or old, complete with drums or only voices—what matters most is the meaning of the words we sing. Indeed, we desire above all to accurately reflect the fullness of God’s Word to his people, giving priority of place to the good news about what Jesus has done for his glory and our benefit.

Bands at Remnant

Like everything else in our church, Remnant’s worship bands exist to bring glory to God in all they do, which naturally includes playing instruments, singing songs, sharing life together, and leading by example. And because glorifying God is our primary aim in all things, the goal of every band is to lead the church in communal worship of our shared hope and trust in the gospel. Thus band members are dedicated to practicing regularly so as to cultivate the musical talents that God has given them as a means to display His beauty and power and greatness. Additionally, we believe that the diversity in musical style and song selection seen among our bands is a helpful reminder for everyone (including ourselves) that worshipping in spirit and truth is about the gospel of Jesus, not our preferences.
